L&T Shipbuilding near Chennai delivers first vessel

L&T Shipbuilding has delivered its first export commercial vessel from the Kattupalli Shipyard near Chennai.
Halul 42 is the first in a series of six platform supply vessels (PSVs) to be delivered to Qatar-based Halul Offshore Services Company WLL (HOSC).
The ship has been received by Ali Bin Jassim Bin Mohammad Al-thani, chairman of HOSC, at a ceremony at the Kattupalli Shipyard.
The PSV has an overall length of 78.60-metres with a dead-weight of 3,450 tonnes and a deck area of 725 sq metres.
The vessel has been designed as a multi-purpose vessel equipped for fire-fighting, rescue and standby, offshore supply, oil recovery and other offshore related activities.
Its twin azimuth thrusters and twin bow thrusters that gives it high manoeuvrability and station-keeping ability in all sea and weather conditions, typically prevalent in Arabian Gulf and the North Sea.
The vessel complies with the latest marine, environmental and crew accommodation regulations. The external fire-fighting capability, survivor facilities and fast rescue boats make Halul 42 capable of enhancing the safety of any offshore field where the vessel is deployed. The ship is certified for carriage of noxious cargo and dangerous goods in packaged form.
L&T is a $14.3-billion technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing and financial services company with global operations.
L&T’s around Rs 4,000 crore port-cum-ship building project was set up jointly by L&T and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (Tidco) in two phases on a 1,200-acre of land at Kattupalli, which 35-40 kilometers from Chennai, through L&T Shipbuilding Limited.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has credited the Constitution for the trajectory of his own life, asserting that even if one assumes he acts out of self-interest, his own welfare lies in the welfare of the Constitution.
In an interview with PTI, Modi rejected the opposition's claim that he intended to change the Constitution and end reservation if the BJP-led NDA wins over 400 seats in the Lok Sabha polls. Iran President Ebrahim Raisi on Monday was found dead after a chopper carrying him crashed on Sunday as it was crossing mountains terrain in heavy fog on the way back, according to Iranian state media. The Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other officials were also reportedly present in the chopper along with Raisi.
Earlier, the Iranian authorities intensified their search operation for the crashed helicopter carrying President Ebrahim Raisi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a television interview telecast on Sunday, said the stock market would have a strong run once the election results are out.

At least nine people were burnt alive and 15 injured when a moving bus caught fire near Tauru in Haryana's Nuh district in the early hours of Saturday, police said.
The incident occurred around 2 am on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway. The bus was carrying around 60 people, all residents of Punjab's Hoshiarpur and Ludhiana, who were returning from pilgrim towns of Mathura and Vrindavan. All of them are relatives, police said.

Softbank-backed OYO is set to refile its much-awaited IPO as the global travel tech player is close to finalising its refinancing plans to raise up to $450 million via sale of dollar bonds, sources said.
JP Morgan is the likely lead banker for the refinancing through the sale of dollar bonds at an estimated interest rate of 9 to 10 per cent per annum, a source said.
