Raghav Chadha joins BJP, says 2/3rd of AAP Rajya Sabha MPs also merging

Raghav Chadha, a Rajya Sabha member from Punjab, resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday after months of tension with the party leadership. He stated that his own party had tried to silence him.
Chadha will join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) along with Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal. Addressing a press conference, he said, “We have decided that we, constituting two-thirds of the AAP members in the Rajya Sabha, are exercising the provisions of the Constitution of India to merge with the BJP.”
The three claimed that seven out of 10 Rajya Sabha MPs of AAP have quit the party.
Merging with the support of two-thirds of a party’s members allows MPs to avoid disqualification under the Anti-Defection Law.

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) plans to scale up its annual investments in India to $10 billion by 2030, eyeing bets in sectors such as renewable energy, urban infrastructure and financial services, a senior executive said.
Annual investments in India by IFC, the private-sector arm of the World Bank Group, have risen to about $5.4 billion in 2024/2025 from about $1.3 billion in financial year 2021/2022, Imad Fakhoury, its South Asia regional director, told Reuters.

American electric carmaker Tesla on Friday said it will expand its charging network, including superchargers, across major hubs in India as it looks to accelerate its journey in the country.
The company, which made its much-awaited entry into India, launching its Model Y, had on Wednesday launched its second model, a three-row six seater SUV Model YL priced at ₹61.99 lakh and is simultaneously intensifying charging network expansion to address range anxiety of customers.

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday launched the Bharat Taxi app in Mumbai, saying the initiative would free auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers from dependence on foreign apps that charge heavy commissions and subscription fees, while offering zero commission, free insurance cover of ₹5 lakh, and access to Mudra loans.
Speaking to reporters, Goyal said the app would provide affordable, authorised fares to the public while ensuring drivers receive fair rights and ownership for their hard work.
