Delhi: Man arrested for smuggling drones, iPhones worth approx Rs 26 lakh at IGI airport

The customs department officials apprehended a passenger at Delhi airport for attempting to smuggle drones and other electronic goods including mobile phones on Friday.

The man who was arrested had 4 DJI drones with camera, 4 Mi drones with camera, 6 Apple iPhone 11 Pro (256 GB), 3 Apple iPhone 11 Pro (64 GB), 10000 memory cards in his possession. The total value of the items seized by the customs officials from the accused was Rs 26,25,000.

"A person was intercepted on Friday while he was crossing the Green Channel during the day after he reached Delhi from Hong Kong," the customs department statement read.

''A large consignment of drone, mobile phones, and memory cards were found from the luggage of the accused,'' it further stated.

The customs department stated that the man was arrested after he could not produce any valid bill for the electronic items.

The man hailed from Delhi and was involved in the smuggling of electronic items from Hong Kong. He sold the smuggled items at local shops in Delhi.

The man also confessed to smuggling 10,000 memory cards from Hong Kong on his previous stint.
