Maruti Suzuki launches crossover CelerioX at Rs 4.57 lakh

NEW DELHI: Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has launched a crossover version of its Celerio hatchback, christened the CelerioX. Prices of the new model start at Rs 4.57 lakh for the Vxi MT variant while the top Zxi (O) AMT trim comes at Rs 5.42 lakh (both ex-showroom, Delhi).

The crossover model is based on the 2017 Celerio facelift version and gets some cosmetic updates to look rugged and aggressive. Big changes have been made in the front with a new grille, bumper and a lower-body protective cladding that runs throughout the cir Maruti CelerioX cumference of the car. The Maruti Suzuki CelerioX also receives cumference of the car. The Maruti Suzuki CelerioX also receives a gloss black finish on the grille, fog garnish, clads, roof garnish, B-pillars and interior accents. The design of the alloy wheels remain the same but they also come painted in a black finish.

Commenting on the launch, R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), MSI, said, "Celerio has successfully carved a unique position for itself in the competitive compact car segment. With CelerioX, Maruti Suzuki aims to give this well-accepted model a bold, stylish and sporty makeover as per the changing preferences of young and social savvy consumers. We are confident that CelerioX will enhance the brand and bring in younger customers."

There is no mechanical change in the car and it continues to get 68PS and 90Nm of torque from the same 1.0-litre petrol engine. The motor comes mated to a five-speed transmission and the company also offers Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology as an option for a more convenient drive experience in traffic. The AGS option is available throughout the trim range.

Driver side airbag is standard in all the variants while the passenger side airbag and ABS come as optional extras. The CelerioX is available in five colour options including orange, white, grey, brown and blue.
