As COVID-19 cases rise in children, experts make BIG claims

Amid the decline in COVID-19 cases across the country, the number of coronavirus cases has recording a steady increase among children below 10 years, according to data available with the Empowered Group-1 (EG-1). It is to be noted that EG-1 is tasked with formulating the Covid emergency strategy of the country.

According to the data, the share of children in the total active Covid-19 cases has jumped from 2.80% in March this year to 7.04% in August. This means that about of every 100 active Covid cases, around seven are of children.

India saw a single-day rise of 25,404 new COVID-19 cases, taking the infection tally in the country to 3,32,89,579, while the count of active cases declined to 3,62,207, according to Union health ministry data on Tuesday.

The death toll due to the disease has climbed to 4,43,213, with 339 daily fatalities being recorded, the data updated at 8 am showed.

Post listing, the stock hit a high of Rs 929 and a low of Rs 841 on the NSE and BSE in intra-day trade. At 10:02 am, it traded at Rs 902.70, up 48 per cent against its issue price on the BSE. A combined 3.7 million equity shares had changed hands on the counter on the NSE and BSE at the time of writing this report.
