Bandra Magistrate Court on Friday extended the police custody of the accused, who allegedly stabbed actor Saif Ali Khan at his residence last week, till January 29.

The court observed that there is substantial progress in the matter and to investigate other consequential aspects is necessary. The offence is serious and triable by the sessions court.

A Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna will hear a plea filed by former Haryana minister and five-time MLA Karan Singh Dalal seeking a policy for the verification of Electronic Voting Machines.

When the matter came up for hearing on Friday before Justices Dipankar Datta and Manmohan, the bench said the case shall be placed before the Chief Justice along with similar petitions.

Zee Entertainment on Thursday reported a 179.7 per cent rise in its consolidated net profit at Rs 163.6 crore for the third quarter of the financial year 2024-25 (FY25). Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Maharashtra government to invest Rs 3.05 trillion in the state across key sectors such as new energy, retail, hospitality, and high-tech manufacturing. An Indian appeals tribunal on Thursday temporarily suspended the Competition Commission of India's (CCI) five-year data-sharing ban between WhatsApp and its parent company Meta Platforms, affecting its other applications like Facebook and Instagram, particularly for advertising purposes, news agency Reuters reported.

Meta is challenging the CCI's November 2024 directive, which prohibits WhatsApp from sharing user data with its other entities for targeted advertising, arguing that the ban would adversely affect its operations in India.
