The Hinduja group is learnt to have backtracked from making a minimum Rs 8,950-crore offer for Reliance Capital (RCap) – a deal that it had belatedly put forth in December, after Torrent Investments emerged as the highest bidder for the bankrupt firm in the challenge process.
The Hindujas’ latest move has put Indian lenders, with an exposure of Rs 24,000 crore, in a spot as it was the former’s revised offer that led to a call for a second auction and litigation by Torrent, which had placed a bid of Rs 8,649 crore in the first auction. Torrent has moved the Supreme Court and plans to wait for the apex court verdict before participating in any fresh auction.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said that he was not Veer Savarkar and will not apologise.

The three-day initial public offering (IPO) will close on April 6, and the bidding for anchor investors will open on March 31, according to the red herring prospectus (RHP).

Tube Investments of India (TII) and Premji Invest (PI) on Saturday signed a share purchase agreement to acquire 100 per cent equity capital of Lotus Surgicals (Lotus) from India Medical Consumables Holdings (a Samara Capital entity) and other shareholders.
TII will acquire 67 per cent, while PI will acquire the remaining 33 per cent, subject to the completion of certain conditions. Currently, Lotus is engaged in the business of wound closure products.

Reliance Industries on Friday announced that it has appointment of Venkatachari Srikanth, 56, as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), from 1 June, 2023.
The company said current CFO Alok Agarwal, will move to the new role as Senior Advisor to the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries from 1 June, 2023.

A shocking incident came to the fore from Uttar Pradesh`s Meerut where a woman allegedly killed her 10-year-old son and a 6-year-old daughter with the help of her lover.
According to Uttar Pradesh Police, the incident occurred on March 22. After killing the children, the duo threw their bodies into a canal. Notably, the lover of the woman is also a local councillor.

With the Lok Sabha Secretariat on March 24 disqualifying Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as an MP, all eyes are now on the Election Commission (EC) which can now declare elections to his Wayanad constituency as it has been deemed vacant.
The notification declaring Mr. Gandhi’s disqualification as an MP has been marked to the EC, as well as the Chief Electoral Officer of Kerala, among others. Thus the commission can take cognisance of the same and proceed with announcing election in Wayanad, sources in the Lok Sabha Secretariat said.

Zydus Lifesciences Ltd on Friday said it has received final approval from the US health regulator for its generic doxepin hydrochloride capsules used in the treatment of depression and anxiety.
The approval granted by the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) is for doxepin hydrochloride capsules of strength 150 mg, the company said in a regulatory filing.

State-owned Power Grid Corporation's board has approved rasing up to Rs 600 crore through bonds to be issued on private placement basis.
"Committee of directors for bonds, in their meeting held today i.e. on 24th March, 2023, have approved the raising of unsecured, non-convertible, non-cumulative, redeemable, taxable POWERGRID Bonds-LXXII (72nd) issue 2022-23 on private placement up to Rs 600 crore by securitisation of cash flows of 10 years i.e. till FY 2032-33 of its operational SPV (special purpose vehicle) viz. 'POWERGRID NM Transmission Ltd' (PNMTL)," a BSE filing stated.
