After Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Wipro too has issued a warning saying that disruption at its Chennai facilities due to recent floods and the costs associated with subsequent invocation of business continuity plans would have a material impact on the performance of the company in the October-December quarter of FY16.

Wipro’s warning comes on the heels of a similar announcement by India’s largest IT services firm Tata Consultancy Services.

Dismissing rumours on social media, the Reserve Bank on Monday said all notes including those with scribbles on them will continue to be legal.

"As I understand, one of the topics trending on Whatsapp is the statement that at the end of the year notes with writing will not be accepted. This is absolutely false. Those notes continue to be a legal tender," RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan said in an audio message.

New Delhi: The Delhi high court on Monday sought response of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on a plea challenging its tariff order making it mandatory for cellular operators to compensate subscribers for call drops from 1 January.

A bench of chief justice G. Rohini and justice Jayant Nath issued notice to Trai on a plea moved by telecom companies, who termed the order as mutually contradictory and destructive.

Mumbai: U.K. Sinha, chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) on Tuesday asked merchant bankers to promote the new platform to list start-ups within India and come up with ideas to make listing easier for companies in the early stage of growth to raise capital through the new platform. Sinha said he has met several executives of start-ups in Delhi and Bengaluru after enabling them to list in India in August.

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday morning conducted searches at the office of Secretary to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

“A corruption case has been registered against Rajendra Kumar, Secretary to the Delhi CM, on the allegation that he abused his official position to favour a particular firm in getting tenders from various Delhi government departments in the past few years,” said a CBI official, adding that the action has been taken on the basis of a complaint lodged by a former Delhi Dialogue Commission member secretary, Ashish Joshi.

Asian markets were mixed on Tuesday, as investors were reluctant to make any big moves amid volatile crude oil and before a widely anticipated US interest rate increase by the Federal Reserve later this week. Hang Seng and Shanghai were up 0.46 per cent and 0.14 per cent, while Nikkei were down 0.73 per cent in the morning trade.

Crude oil prices are close to 11-year lows on account of excessive supply. A forecast from the International Energy Agency (IEA) that the global supply glut is likely to deepen next year dragging down the prices further. US crude was down 0.2 per cent at $36.24 after falling as low as $34.53 on Monday before ending nearly 2 per cent higher. Brent crude fell as low as $36.33 a barrel on Monday, its weakest since December 2008. A fall below $36.20 would take oil down to levels not seen since 2004.
