Microsoft bans cryptocurrency ads on Bing; calls it a risk for its users

After Facebook and Google, Microsoft has now banned advertisements showing cryptocurrencies and related products from its Bing search engine.

"Because cryptocurrency and related products are not regulated, we have found them to present a possible elevated risk to our users with the potential for bad actors to participate in predatory behaviours, or otherwise scam consumers," Melissa Alsoszatai-Petheo, Advertiser policy manager at Microsoft, said in a blog post on Wednesday.

ArcelorMittal has transferred Rs 70 billion to an escrow account of State Bank of India (SBI) owing to payment of outstanding dues relating to defaulting firms in a bid to become eligible for Essar Steel.

Sources close to the development said a significant amount of around Rs 70 billion had been put into the SBI account with a proposal on escrow of the deposited funds.

Last month, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) had issued a draft of Food Safety and Standards (Labelling and Display) Regulations, 2018 and sought comments from stakeholders.

NEW DELHI: The telecom regulator is considering a review of the charge that telecom operators pay each other for text messages — possibly even discarding it — a move that could trigger another clash with financially strapped older telcos.

The regulator is considering issuing a consultation paper to seek stakeholder views on revising the interconnection usage charge (IUC) for SMS, which may include the possibility of scrapping the charge altogether, people aware of the matter said.
