Donald Trump says Iran ‘playing with fire’ after nuclear deal limit breached

Washington: US president Donald Trump warned Monday that Iran is “playing with fire” after Tehran said it exceeded a limit on enriched uranium reserves under a 2015 nuclear deal abandoned by Washington.

Israel urged European states to sanction Iran, while Russia voiced regret but said the move was a consequence of US pressure, which has pushed the deal towards collapse.

ICICI Bank, Punjab National Bank and Central Bank of India on Monday cut their marginal cost of funds-based lending rates (MCLRs) across tenures for the first time after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) lowered the repo rate by 25 bps to 5.75% in June.

ICICI Bank, the country’s second largest private bank by assets, cut its one-year MCLR — the benchmark for most customer loans — by 10 bps to 8.65%. While the MCLR for shorter periods now stands at 8.60% for six months, 8.45% for three months, 8.40% for one month and overnight lending.

Digital payments system Paytm on Monday said it aimed to achieve 2 billion quarterly transactions this year. The company revealed that it had been witnessing impressive month-on-month growth across all payment-use cases available on its platform.

West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra came down heavily on the current as well as proposed mechanism of filing goods and services tax (GST) returns as well as "distortion" in the rate structure on Monday, when the Union government celebrated two years of the roll-out of the indirect tax regime.

In a letter to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitha­raman, Mitra attributed sluggish GST collections to distortions in the GST rate structure and complexities in procedures.

Maruti Suzuki India Monday reported a 14 per cent decline in total sales at 1,24,708 units in June as against 1,44,981 units in the same month last year.

Domestic sales during the month were down 15.3 per cent at 1,14,861 units last month compared to 1,35,662 units in June last year, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said in a statement.
