Reliance Jio will pioneer the 5G revolution in India in the second half of 2021, said Mukesh Ambani on Tuesday in the inaugural speech at the India Mobile Congress 2020. Sharing his ideas to make India the world’s preeminent digital society with ease of living for all, Reliance Jio chairman said the country is among the best digitally connected nations in the world, and in order to maintain the lead, policy steps are needed to accelerate an early rollout of 5G, and to make it affordable and available everywhere.

Telecom equipment maker Nokia has started the production of next generation 5G equipment at its Chennai plant. Nokia said it was the first to manufacture the 5G New Radio in India, and it is now producing Nokia AirScale massive Multiple Input Multiple Output (mMIMO) solution at the facility, which has attracted investments worth Rs 600 crore since 2018.

The facility has manufactured more than 5 million telecom network equipment units over the years.

The World Health Organization Foundation has appointed an Indian-origin health expert, Anil Soni, as its first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to address the most vital health challenges all across the globe. India's COVID-19 spike fell to a five-month low with 26,567 new cases and 389 deaths registered on Monday. The figures have taken the tally to 97,03,770, according to data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday. Compared to Sunday's numbers, the country witnessed a 21% dip in new cases recorded in a single day.

It is also the 32nd day when India reported less than 50,000 cases in one day. The last time daily new cases crossed the 50,000-threshold was on November 7.

As farmers protesting against the government's agricultural sector laws have called a 'Bharat Bandh' on Tuesday, Swabhimani Shetkari Saghtana, a farmer's body staged 'Bharat Bandh Rail Roko' agitation and briefly stopped a train in Malkapur of Maharashtra's Buldhana district.

The protestors were later removed from the tracks and detained by the police.

Shares of Canara Bank gained 7 per cent to Rs 126 on the BSE in the early morning trade on Tuesday on the back of heavy volumes after the bank’s qualified institutional placement (QIP) opened for subscription.
