US biotech company Moderna on Monday announced that it plans to request an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and conditional approval from the European Medicines Agency (EMA) for its coronavirus vaccine, which it said is 100% effective against severe COVID-19 cases.
Moderna said the primary efficacy analysis of the Phase-3 study of its vaccine candidate mRNA-1273 conducted on 196 cases indicates a vaccine efficacy of 94.1%.

The protesting farmers will not talk with the government till all 500 plus organisations, that are demonstrating against the three central farm laws, are called for talks, said Sukhvinder S Sabhran, Joint Secretary, Punjab Kisan Sangarsh Committee (PKSC) at the Singhu Border on Tuesday.
There are more than 500 groups of farmers in the country, but the government has invited only 32 groups for talks today. The rest have not been called by the government. We will not be going for talks till all groups are called, said Sabhran.

Amid the ongoing discourse on the issue of 'Love Jihad', Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that the state government is considering to bring laws that will make it mandatory for both the bride and the groom to disclose information including the source of income and religion.
One shouldn't get married if there's no transparency between husband-wife. Disclosure's important-my religion, what I do for a living, what's my income. I am not saying that you should disclose not only your religion, you should also disclose your income and job, Assam Minister Sarma told reporters.

World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Monday urged leaders not to politicise the hunt for the origins of the novel coronavirus as it will not help in unearthing the truth of the virus.
Addressing a press briefing, Tedros said that the WHO will start the study from Wuhan and based on the findings, it will explore if there are other avenues.

Elaborate arrangements are in place as the stage is set for the elections to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Tuesday. Borders areas around National Capital Delhi are witnessing blockades as the farmers’ protests against the Centre’s agricultural Bills continue. Tikri and Singhu (Delhi-Haryana) borders have been closed for any traffic movement, the Delhi Traffic Police said on Monday.
Farmers also stayed put at the Gazipur-Ghaziabad (Delhi-UP) border on Sunday late night and a group of farmers was seen sleeping on the road while others were seen sitting closely in a group around a bonfire in the cold winter night.
