Why Infosys reduced its revenue forecast for 2016-17

Bengaluru: Infosys Ltd surprised many in April when it set an aggressive revenue growth target and said it could grow by as much as 13.8% in the year ahead. After all, India’s second largest software services exporter has traditionally been a company that prefers to under-promise and over-deliver.

It emerges that the dollar revenue growth outlook outlined by Infosys in April included business from a proposed merger of drug makers Pfizer Inc. and Allergan Plc., even though the deal had been called off days before Infosys’s management set out the target, according to executives familiar with the matter.

Infosys disappoints, stock falls 8.8%

For the past several quarters, Infosys had clearly stolen the thunder from market leader Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in the information technology (IT) sector, with impressive financial performance for consecutive quarters.

The June quarter numbers have shown business environments are fragile and can swing a company’s performance in either direction.

Infosys misses estimates, cuts guidance forecast

After showing impressive numbers for past few quarters, Infosys, India’s second largest IT services company seems to have lost the pace of growth in the quarter ended June 30, 2016.

In the quarter ended June 2016, the Bengaluru-headquartered company, for the first time in the last four quarters, missed the revenue guidance for the year ahead as it saw customers reduce discretionary spending on software projects. The company’s share price was down by over 8% in the early trade on the BSE at around Rs 1083.15.

Relief for Infosys, TCS, Wipro on H1B, L-1 visas; here’s why

The $100-billion Indian IT services export industry is unlikely to see a major impact from the new Bill proposed by two US lawmakers seeking further restrictions on H-1B and L-1 visas as the planned legislation is not expected to pass in the current form even as India centric technology companies have increased their hiring of American citizens.
