The Art, Culture and Language Department is a newly set-up Department of Govt. of NCT of Delhi . The Language Department is carved out of Education Department and was set up in September 1999. Aims & Objectives Propagation, promotion and development of languages, literature art and culture as an integral part of composite culture of Union Territory of Delhi.. These activities are carried out through Sahitya Kala Parishad and Language Academies viz. Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit and Sindhi which are autonomous bodies.

Central Reference Library
The Central Reference Library is mainly responsible for the implementation of two on-going schemes. Complation and sale of the Indian National Bibliography in Roman script and in fourteen Indian langauge scripts based on the receipt of books at the National Library under Delivery of Books Act, 1954. Compilation and Sale of Index Indiana (Roman Script) an Index to selected articles appearing in current Indian langauge periodicals.

The Sangeet Natak Akademi. India's national academy for music, dance and drama - is the first National Academy of the arts set-up by the Republic of India. The Government Museum and Art Gallery, Chandigarh,
The Government Museum and Art Gallery, Chandigarh, owes its existence to the partition of the country in August,1947.It oneof the premier institution of India with a very rich collection of Gandharansculptures, Pahari and Rajasthani miniature paintings. Before the partition in 1947, the collection of art objects, paintings, sculptures and decorative arts, were housed in the Central Museum, Lahore the then capital of Punjab.
