BHEL slumps on huge loss in Q3

Shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals slumped nearly 11% to Rs 107 after the state-owned company reported a huge loss of Rs 1,102 crore compared to a net profit of Rs 212.60 crore in the quarter ended December 31, 2014.

Total income for the quarter under review also declined to Rs 5,496 crore compared with Rs 6,472 crore in the same quarter ended December 2014.

Meanwhile, state-owned power equipment maker said it has won a major order for the supply of two 800 MW steam generators with supercritical parameters from NTPC after outbidding competitors in an open global tender

The stock opened at Rs 115 and touched a low of Rs 107. At 9:40am, over 3 million shares were traded on both the stock exchanges.
