Shares of sugar companies rallied up to 9 per cent on the BSE in Thursday’s intra-day trade in an otherwise subdued market due to hike in refined sugar prices and government’s thrust to double the ethanol blending by 2025.

Meanwhile, India´s sugar production fell 3 per cent to 29.9 million tonnes (MT) in the first six months of the 2022 23-marketing year ending September, according to industry body ISMA. Sugar output was at 30.9 MT in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) has ranked ninth in the list of the top ten busiest airports in the world, according to Airports Council International (ACI) data. This is the first time an Indian airport has made it to the list of the top ten airports in terms of traffic.

The Reserve Bank of India has decided to keep the key benchmark interest rate - repo rate - unchanged at 6.5 per cent with readiness to act should the situation so warrant, Governor Shaktikanta Das announced on Thursday, after a two-day monetary policy (MPC) meeting. The Monetary Policy Committee of the central bank decided to take a pause after a rate hike seen in previous six consecutive policies.

The gross gaming revenue of fantasy sports during the ongoing IPL season is likely to reach Rs 2,900 - Rs 3,100 crore, a report showed on Thursday.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has raised the policy repo rate by 250 basis points (bps) in the last financial year. The repo rate was 4 per cent in May 2022 and it was subsequently raised to 6.5 per cent by February 2023.

However, private banks have been slower in hiking the interest rates on new loans as compared to public sector banks and foreign banks, according to a report in Businessline (BL).

In the quarter ending March 2023, Paytm recorded a 40 per cent rise in the Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) as compared to the same quarter last year. From Rs 2.59 trillion in Q4FY22, the GMV rose to Rs 3.62 trillion in Q4FY23, the company said in an exchange filing on Wednesday.
