World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-GeneralTedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Wednesday said that the institution plans to look for new sources of funding, and also improve the quality of funding in an attempt to provide help to countries who are in dire need if a dangerous public health crisis emerges.

The Union Home Ministry on Wednesday dropped domestic air travel from the list of prohibited activities during the ongoing lockdown over COVID-19, as the government announced resumption of services from May 25.

An order to this effect was issued by Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla in his capacity as chairperson of the National Executive Committee under the National Disaster Management Act.

The government on Wednesday said the number of deaths reported per lakh population in India due to coronavirus is just 0.2 as against the global average of 4.2 people per lakh population.

The number of COVID-19 cases in India is 1,06,750 while 3,303 people have succumbed to the disease, the figures released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare show. Globally, 49.3 lakh people have been infected of the virus while 3.24 lakh people have died.
