Phoenix Mecano AG, decided to include in the sphere of its global networks, the land of plenty, India. Phoenix Mecano (India) Ltd. was established in Mumbai to source products for Phoenix Mecano's global sourcing operations and to market products of the Phoenix Mecano enclosure and mechanical division. Soon the high quality and sophisticated Phoenix Mecano products were creating waves in the Indian Market and Phoenix Mecano (India) Ltd. saw itself as one of the leaders in a cut throat competition. With an increase in demand for Phoenix Mecano products, came the need to integrate manufacturing in the company. This paved the way for a state of the art manufacturing facility, which was started at Pirangut, Pune in the year 2004.

Dr. J Metzger - Chairman of board of Directors of Phoenix Mecano (India) Limited since 1994 and the board member of the executive committee of directors of Phoenix Mecano AG. Switzerland since 1992. Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and P.H.D. in Economics. Dr Metzger has worked with Authur Anderson, Hamburg Germany for 5 years as an auditor and 4 years as a management consultant. He later moved on to AMP Germany to lead their material management department. He joined Phoenix Mecano AG. in 1989 and has since then been associated with various group comapnies as the Managing Director till he finnally joined Phoenix Mecano AG. board as the person responsible for Asian operations.
