Kwality Photonics has been using this technology to make modules for automobile lamps. These COB based lamps are fast picking interest tanks to: COB technology allows extremely thin profiles with very high assembly densities – thinner than SMD based modules. This is a boon where space is a constraint and also facilitates styling flexibility. Provides greatest benefits for producing homogeneous light effects and high luminous densities. LEDs turn on instantly, i.e., they can achieve full brightness much quicker than their filament counterparts, reducing braking response time by 2/10th of a second. Overall power consumption of an LED signal lamp is typically 1/10 that of an incandescent design. Properly designed, the LED signal lamp should last the life of the car, which eliminates one cause of maintenance and related costs. COB modules not only save space but also are cost effective. Kwality has successfully developed techniques to give White LEDs in COB form-a rare capability, globally speaking. |
