Godavari Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (GFCL) is part of the $ 1.5 billion conglomerate Murugappa Group. A pioneer and market leader in several fields with over 40 manufacturing operations across 12 states in India, the Group has a strong presence in abrasives, engineering and cycles, bio-products, sanitaryware, plantations, sugar, farm inputs, finance, general insurance, and nutraceuticals. Godavari Fertilisers and Chemicals (Private) Limited was incorporated on 17.12.1981 with its registered office at Secunderabad. The company became public limited on 31.08.1984. It was further agreed to set up the plant at Kakinada, in East Godavari District with an initial outlay of Rs.114 crores and a production capacity of 3.00 lakh MTs per annum. The plant having been expanded from time to time, the installed capacity has been brought to 8.32 lakh MTs per annum, with capability to produce wide range of products. The Company has a storage terminal at Visakhapatnam Port for receipt and storage of Ammonia and Phosphoric Acid, Raw Materials received at Visakhapatnam storage terminal are transported to Kakinada plant through specially fabricated Rail tank cars owned by the company. Subsequently with commissioning of Kakinada Deep Water Port, the Company augumented Phos Acid , Sulphuric Acid and Liq. Ammonia storages at DAP plant, Kakinada and Presently most of the Raw Material ships are Received at Kakinada. The Company's marketing operations are spread over nine states viz.,Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, with 11 Regional Marketing Offices located at Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Kakinada, Kurnool, Raichur, Nagpur, Bhopal, Lucknow and Calcutta.
