Porter-Cable Professional Edge router bits are constructed of 4140 Alloy Steel, a harder grade of steel than standard cast steel bit bodies. Each bit is annealed and heat treated to Rockwell hardness of 40-45-harder than is possible with cast steel bodies. The bits are precisly ground using computer controlled machining for precision tolerances and perfectly concentric shafts. The carbide tips are made from a specially blended micrograin carbide for superior results and longer lasting sharpness. All bits 5/8-inch in diameter or larger have a chip limiting design which provides more cutting control, better balance, and more body mass for a cleaner cut. A black oxide coating protects against corrosion while preventing resin build up and improving chip clearance. This bit is designed for general cutting including edge trimming and flat-bottomed grooves and dadoes. The double flute design provides superior balance and vibration-free cutting for a smoother finish and longer bit life. The beefy 1/2-inch shank delivers smooth, vibration-free cutting. Includes one carbide-tipped router bit.
