Solid performance and serious convenience--that more or less sums up DeWalt's cordless combo kit. With two XRP extended run-time batteries and a one-hour fast charger, you've got the foundation for high-performance, long-lasting equipment, and DeWalt doesn't stop there. The heavy-duty, 18-volt, 1/2-inch drill/driver/hammer drill will do up to 2,000 rpm and 34,000 beats per minute, and can produce 450 inch-pounds of maximum sustained torque. The carbide-tipped chuck jaws have excellent bit grip. There's also an automatic spindle lock, as well as an antislip comfort grip. We were especially impressed with the balance of this hammer drill--its T-handle design distributes weight evenly so it's easy to hold, even over long periods of time, and the grips seem to work for people of all different hand sizes. The heavy-duty, 18-volt reciprocating saw offers a keyless blade clamp for quick blade changes, a pivoting shoe with an open top for maximum visibility, and a variable-speed trigger for blade control. The saw also has an electric brake. It's an accurate tool, and the grips--especially the front one--provide excellent user control. This reciprocating saw makes up to 2,800 spm, and has a 7/8-inch stroke length. It weighs only 6.5 pounds, and because it's cordless, there simply isn't a better option for working in tight spaces or above your head. The DW988KC-2 includes a drill/driver/hammerdrill, reciprocating saw, blade, two XR+ batteries, one-hour charger, double-ended screwdriver bit, 360-degree side handle, and carrying case. The DW988 18-volt, 1/2-inch adjustable-clutch drill/driver/hammerdrill uses a DeWalt-built high-torque motor to deliver 450 in./lbs. of torque for drilling bigger holes and driving bigger screws. Besides boosting torque, DeWalt is the first company to add a three-speed transmission that produces more rpm for faster drilling and driving applications. Low speed (first gear) and high speed (second gear) are similar to other cordless drills currently available. However, the new MAX third speed is 38 percent faster, with a range of 0 to 2,000 rpm. Ideal for jobs that previously required the high speed, the MAX third speed is noticeably faster for wood and metal screwdriving and drilling, and especially for hammerdrilling into masonry, where the MAX speed drills holes up to 33 percent faster. The bpm range on the MAX third speed setting ranges from 0 to 34,000. The DW988 features a 1/2-inch ratcheting chuck lock with carbide jaws to keep a tighter grip on the bit. The ratcheting chuck lock consists of two elements: an automatic spindle lock that allows users to tighten down on the chuck twice as hard, and ratcheting action to prevent the chuck sleeve from loosening during the job. Other features include all-metal gearing and a metal gear case for durability, and an antislip comfort grip to reduce user fatigue. The DW938 reciprocating saw powers through material with 0 to 2,800 strokes per minute and a 7/8-inch stroke length, faster than a 4 amp corded unit. The electric brake prevents blades from breaking when exiting a plunge cut. A pivoting shoe with an open top provides the user with maximum visibility. Blade changes can be made in just seconds with the lever action blade change, plus the blade can be reversed for flush cutting. Cut 50 2-by-4s, 144 1-1/2-inch PVC pipes, or 30 6-inch roof vents on one charge. Features
