It's hard to imagine something really new in the reciprocating saw world, but lo and behold, here it is. The Tiger Claw works just like a standard reciprocating saw, with some major advances. The gear housings, front and back, can be rotated in any direction. Yes, you heard right. No more twisting and contorting--you stay upright and the tool does the Houdini act. The rear gear housing adjusts 180 degrees in either direction with 13 positive stop locations, and the front gear house rotates a full 360 degrees in either direction with 12 positive stops. At the risk of sounding like a late-night TV commercial... but wait, there's more! We've seen blade-change systems aplenty over the years, all of which promise speed and ease. But there is nothing on the market on any tool we've ever touched that begins to rival this Quick-Change system. We changed blades in under two seconds. Really. There is no substitute for a high quality reciprocating saw. The new Porter-Cable model 9740 TigerClaw incorporates two patented gear housings that can be rotated in any direction. The rear gear housing adjusts as much as 180 degrees in either direction with 13 positive stop locations for close quarters cutting. The front gear house rotates a full 360 degrees in either direction with 12 positive stops. With the rear gear housing adjusted to 90 degrees the full length of the unit is only 8-1/2" making cutting between rafters and wall joists possible with a standard 6" blade. This is truly the best reciprocating saw to ever come out of Porter-Cable's design labs. As you have come to expect from Porter-Cable, the TigerClaw not only gives you unlimited angle versatility, it also incorporates a host of other handy features. The 9740 utilizes the largest motor found on any Porter-Cable reciprocating saw. There's also an electroniv variable speed control for cutting in a wide range of materials. The large spectrum of speed combined with an incredible 1-1/4" blade stroke makes this unit the fastest cutting Porter-Cable reciprocating saw on the market. Since blades are getting more and more costly, the 9740 TigerClaw features a Quick-Change front show that can be extended without tools to utilize more of the blade's teeth. Changing blades is as simple as turning the blade holder. A quick twist of the corrosion resistant Quick-Change blade clamp and a new blade is ready to go. The blade clamp is engineered to accept all competitive reciprocating blades on the market including the thick, extra heaving duty blades; it even allows the blade to be inserted upside down! An adapter is included which allows a universal jig saw blade to be used instead of a reciprocating blades for precise cutting. Complete with case, bimetal blade, jig saw adapter, and owners manual.
