Generous sizing and a heartwarming illustration make this Portmeirion A Christmas Story oval platter a holiday treasure. The cozily decorated dinnerware line, created by artist Susan Winget, features scenes and verses from the Clement C. Moore poem "’Twas the Night Before Christmas." The imagery is warm, friendly, and colorful with elaborate storybook-style detailing. Here, the poem’s narrator raises his candle to watch as Santa Claus departs in his sleigh. Arcing around the margins of the platter run these lines: "But I heard him exclaim, ere they drove out of sight/’Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!’" A green border of holly and a dark red rim complete the festive effect. Crafted from fine translucent porcelain, the platter is substantial in weight and safe in the dishwasher, oven, and microwave. It measures 16-1/4 by 11-3/4 inches.
