Cook perfectly pink roasts and toast with wine served at ideal drinking temperature with this instant-read digital thermometer. Plus, because the thermometer is waterproof, there’s no worry if it’s accidentally dropped in a sink full of water or a pan of turkey drippings. After being inserted at least 1 inch into the food, the 4-3/4-inch stainless-steel probe accurately displays the temperature in just 8 seconds. One button changes the LCD display from Fahrenheit to Celsius, while another turns the device on and off. In order to save battery life, the thermometer automatically shuts off after 10 minutes if no change in temperature has occurred. A rubber cap can be pried off in order to change the battery, while a plastic sheath with pocket clip lets the user keep the thermometer close at hand. To determine the accuracy of the thermometer, fill a container with chipped ice and water. Insert the probe 2 inches into the water without touching the container bottom. If the temperature reads less or greater than 32 degrees Fahrenheit, the thermometer can be recalibrated.
