When not in use, this 450-watt food processor sits on an oval plastic box that stores all the processor's various blades and accessories--with the exception of the citrus juicing attachment. It has a 6-cup work bowl that locks quickly and easily to the power base with the twist of a knob that also sets the processor for either continuous or pulse operation. Unlike most processors, the bowl doesn't have a funnel in the center through which the post driving blades protrudes. Instead, driven by a gear in the bowl's bottom, the post is removable. That permits easier cleaning of the bowl, though the presence of the gear somewhat negates the advantage. One clear advantage is the bowl's drip-resistant pouring lip. Another is the leak-resistant seal on the lid, which has a dual feed tube with small and large openings. In addition to the basic stainless-steel chopping blade, two slicing blades and two shredding blades (all stainless steel), a plastic dough kneader, and a plastic disk for beating egg whites and whipping cream accompany the processor. Also included are a plastic spatula and an instruction booklet with 40 basic recipes. The plastic bowl and lid and all accessories are dishwasher-safe. Sitting on the storage box, the processor measures 9-1/4 inches wide, 14-1/4 inches high, and 14 inches deep. It's clad in plastic and easily wipes clean. --Fred Brack
