Something about the gurgling action of this 10-cup capacity coffeemaker produces a heady aroma that will bring all coffee lovers running with their mugs. This sleek hour-glass-shaped model comes with all the amenities: a sure-grip handle on the carafe, a pause-and-serve feature for mid-brew pouring, a push-button release for the swing-out filter basket, a removable gold-tone screen filter (or, use a No. 4 paper filter), a water-level indicator, and a 2-hour automatic shutoff. What really makes coffee from this machine taste better is the replaceable Brita water filter; it significantly reduces chlorine and prevents calcification (scale) buildup. A handy dial acts as a reminder to replace the filter every two months, or simply install the space compensator if the filter is not desired. All removable parts of the coffeemaker are dishwasher-safe. This Braun product measures 13 by 10 by 7 inches, and is covered by a one-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri
