It takes a huge amount of oil to deep-fry and it's a shame to throw it all away afterward. However, you can filter out any food particles and reuse oil as long as it's stored properly to avoid spoiling and reheated to a minimum of 350 degrees F for sterilization. Eastman Outdoors' cooking-oil filter pump takes the mess out of the filtering process as there is no risk of spillage. Shaped like a long wand, the pump is 27-1/2 inches long so it can reach oil at the bottom of the tallest stockpots. Running off of three D batteries, the pump siphons leftover oil from your cooking pot into a storage container via a 26-inch-long plastic tube. A filter within the pump ensures that any bits of food or seasoning that could potentially taint the oil are left behind. The pump comes with three replacement filters but batteries must be purchased separately. --Cristina Vaamonde
