Uniden's GMR635-2 includes a pair of lightweight, palm-sized General Mobile Radio Service radios. Use them to maintain contact with family and friends at sporting events or while hiking, skiing, outdoors, or use them as critical tools in a neighborhood watch. Each radio works on 22 channels: 15 GMRS and 7 FRS. Channel scan lets you easily scan all 22 channels. When an active channel is detected, the radio will pause on that channel until the channel is clear. Then, after a 2 second delay, the radio will continue scanning. To transmit on a given channel, press the PTT button while the scan is paused on your desired channel.
Power the radios using 1 rechargeable NiMH battery pack (Uniden BP38, not included) or 4 AAA alkaline batteries each (not included). If you use rechargeable battery packs, the 2 radios can be charged simultaneously using an optional charging cradle (Uniden RC8348).
Each radio has a battery-level meter on its display to indicate the status of the batteries. When using alkalines, you'll get about 30 hours of use per radio, while the rechargeable battery packs offer enough juice for about 18 hours of operation.
Other features include a backlit LCD, keypad lock, channel monitor, a choice of 5 different call tones, and a roger beep.
