Sony's family of DDS tape drives delivers cost effective solutions for backing up and archiving large amounts of data in small to mid-sized computer systems, workstations and small networks. This particular model, the SDT-7000/PB Internal Tape Drive, offers 4 GB capacity (with no compression) and 8 GB capacity (with 2:1 compression), and a 1566 kB per second sustained data transfer rate. The unit is read and write compatible with all DDS-2 and DDS-1 tape formats, and features Sony’s Super Head Cleaner mechanism to lessen the need for periodic cleaning.
