Capture the feeling of the great outdoors while sitting at your computer or in the office. The Ott-Lite VisionSaver lamp simulates natural daylight, reducing eyestrain and allowing you to see colors and definition more accurately. Developed by Dr. John Nash Ott, the Ott-Lite uses a blend of phosphors to provide a natural light that won't wear on you over time like other artificial lighting can.Setting up the Ott-Lite was easy. We simply connected the base to the neck, clamped the base to our desktop, and plugged it in. The lamp can be swiveled in any direction at the base and at the neck, providing a perfect fit in any work environment. Standing just under 2.5 feet tall, its sleek design and small footprint are unobtrusive. Its translucent blueberry color coordinates well with many computer products on the market today.
As we used the Ott-Lite, we found that it does provide more natural-like daylight than the standard desk lamp we used for comparison. The Ott-Lite's 5-inch, 13-watt bulb provided a pleasantly diffused light over a large area without being too bright, while the standard desk lamp gave off a focused yellowish glow. Colors appeared more accurate with the Ott-Lite, and we detected virtually no glare on the computer screen. Text and detail looked sharp.
We think the Ott-Lite would be ideal for graphic arts professionals or anyone who would like to bring a little of the outdoors in. The Ott-Lite VisionSaver lamp comes with a one-year warranty and instructions for bulb replacement. --Emily Bakko
