He is a long time admirer of Henry David Thoreau, and has been acclaimed for his outdoor education expeditions, using living simulation, bringing history and science alive to his students. He has written articles and books on many of the places he visits. Past titles include "The Cry of the Frigate Bird" and "Gosnold's Hope". Lithuania: The Indestructible Soul is Mr. Wilson's eighth book, and is a fulfillment of his journey into seeking his own roots. A native of south Boston and former member of the US Coast Guard, Mr. Wilson now lives in Lynchburg, Virginia and is involved in community theater.
